The Latest from Karl Lawrence Cellars

Wednesday, September 27, 2006
For all of our faithful followers just dying to get your grubby little hands on your KL Reserves, I'm afraid I have bad news. Due to myriad problems (Packaging taking longer than expected, construction crews ripping up the road to our warehouse and the wonderful, but still a little too warm for wine, late summer weather here in the valley) shipments will be delayed a bit. We expect to begin shipping to most of California next Tuesday, the 3rd of October and everywhere else by the following Tuesday, the 10th.
We appreciate all the quick responses to our offering letter and thank you for your patience.

The Reserve order forms are pouring in off the fax machine. Many of you have asked for more than what was allotted. For those, we'll hold them until after the cut-off date of October 31 to see what wine is freed up.

I'll be in the city all next week as it's the Blues Festival time of year. I'll also be at the Fillmore on Tuesday for Medeski, Martin, & Wood. John Medeski's a big Karl Lawrence fan. If any of you are in town; stop by. Jefferson will be running the office by himself next week. So no worries on things moving along. There's no better place to be on earth during Indian summer than the city by the bay.

The Offering Letter for the release of the 2002 Beckstoffer To Kalon and the 2003 Beckstoffer Dr. Crane, Vineyard Designated Reserves, is printing and being stuffed into envelopes as we speak. You should all be receiving your Offering Letter early next week. Unless you otherwise requested it, your allocations for this year will match what your purchased last year. I was able to bring virtually all people from the wait list onto the active reserve list with an offering of one and one of each.

3-Pack of 750s

The Reserves are offered as a 3-pack of the single vineyard and will be shipped in their pine boxes, stacked on top of each other. Orders of less than 3 and 3 will be shipped in the customary styrofoam and cardboard shipping cartons.

Etched & Painted Mag

The mags are etched & painted and offered in pairs. They will be shipped in styrofoam with the pine box attached or shipped separately.
Both of the pictures above were shot in the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane vineyard with the Mayacamas mountain range in the background.

I haven't forgotten you. It's just that I've been pretty busy getting ready to send out the Offering Letter for the 2002 Beckstoffer To Kolan and the 2003 Beckstoffer Dr. Crane, Vineyard Designated Reserves. All those who received the customary three 2002 Gary Morisoli and three 2002 Herb Lamb, will, by default be offered three of each of these new Reserves. I sent out emails to those of you who last year received either two and two, or one and one. I stated that you would, by default, receive the same offering this year unless you let me know that you wanted it upped. Please double check for your customer numbers on the Order Status page of our web to make sure that your number is there. I do make mistakes.
I've also listed those of you who have asked me to be on the wait list. Please check and make sure that I didn't miss you. I hope to be able to at least offer many of you a one and one offering. Thanks for your interest in our Reserves and for being patient with us.
The other day, Davy Osborne and I took Collin and Vicky Youtz, of PA, up to the Henry Brothers Ranch, for a picnic. So I had to ask them to pose for this picture. Over a year ago, I took Jack and Jan Willey up to the Ranch in the '36 Buick. Ends up, Jan works for a sign company and made three magnetic signs for me. Pretty cool, huh? You can contact her at jan@the signworks, in San Carlos, CA, if you'd like something similar.
