The Latest from Karl Lawrence Cellars

Jefferson's supposed to get me some final bottle count numbers this week. It's looking like it's going to come pretty close the projection. Therefore, we may not be able to bring on anyone from the wait list for this year's Reserve offering. Hopefully, I can get back to you early next week about this.
.
Last night Lissa and I met up in the city with long time Karl Lawrence person, Bruce Leiserowitz. He was introducing his film that he served as the executive producer on. He also holds the option for one of my scripts with Lissa set to direct. So when his film, that I can't say the title of, reaches your area, please be supportive.

After this shot, Bruce snuck over to the wine bar down the block.

I'm back and I see that I have quite a number of emails inquiring as to where their '02 To Kalon mag went. I'll reiterate it again here: Michael and I had a miscommunication about how many he made. So I allocated many more than were actually available. Those few, have been allocated on a seniority basis. I apologize for our communication short-comings and for any heightened anticipation on any of your parts. The next time I hear a number from Michael, I'll get it in blood.
.
AND...as I also mentioned before, Elizabeth Naylor, wearing her Two Wives Wine Compnay hat, put together and is hosting a "cult wine auction" for the Breast Cancer Fund. Karl Lawrence's donation was a 750 ml. bottle of the 2003 vintage, Single Vineyard Designated Reserve from each of our four sourced vineyards: Gary Morisoli, Herb Lamb, Beckstoffer To Kalon, and Beckstoffer Dr. Crane. Except for the Dr. Crane, these are a few of the only Reserves bottled for these vineyards for this vintage.
The other charity auction winery offerings are from: Abreu, Barbour, Bressler, Bryant, Caymus, Clark-Claudon, Cliff Lede, Duckhorn, Cunn, Foley, Grace Family, Harlan Estate, Herb Lamb, Kobalt, La Sirena, Madrigal, Marcassin, Maya, Palmaz, Saintsbury, Selene, Sine Qua Non, Staglin, Switchback Ridge, Von Strasser, Silver Oak, and, Turley.
The auction goes from November 12 to 19. You can check it out at: www.winebid.com. Elizabeth told me that 100% of the proceeds go to the Brest Cancer Fund.

Just a quick note before I go and assist Cheryl at a medical conference. It appears as if no one will golf with her. Never fear, Jefferson will be here holding down the fort.

Craig Isaacs sent me a few shots of his veritcal party.

I see they decanted before the event.

With the sound of Cinderella's midnight clock on Halloween, the deadline for getting your Reserves order form in has passed. In actuality, I'm facing a ton of last minute faxes and emails. It's a good thing we're not the mother-in-law and her daughters. We'll get thru these and see what we have left to distribute. We'll try to balance the requests of those who want to add an extra bottle or two with those who weren't able to get any. We'll give priority to those wanting to fill out their order to come to the standard three & three over those who already have the standard order. We'll also honor seniority as we strive to be fair and equitable in the distribution. Thank you all for being so patient with us during this release.
.
When Michael bottled the 2003 vintage, he separated out the best of the best, from our four sourced vineyards, to make a special offering for an auction in Chicago that specializes in unique and rare wines. So he made one 9 L. bottle of Single Vineyard Designated Reserves from each vineyard. One of our people from the Chicago area, attended that auction and won all four lots.
Michael had some wine left over, but not enough to generally release. So he bottled twenty mags and fifteen 750 ml. bottles to make available for charity auctions. As you know, only the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane was made available for general release.
Elizabeth Naylor is active in raising funds for breast cancer research. Therefore, the first offering of a 750 ml. bottle from each vineyard will be conducted on winebid.com for breast cancer research. I'm not sure of the date, but will get back to you on that.

Bryan chats it up with picnicers

I included this picture of Bryan as he's so rarely around because he works Mondays thru Thursdays at his moonlighting job in Placerville. Dr. Geni Bennets, from the Queen of the Valley Hospital, purchased this wine tasting, picnic, and the round trip '36 Buick ride at their foundation charity auction. She brought along friends from Los Angeles.

Orlando de Jesus

Bryan and his boys, Michael, Ben, and Mathew Henry constructed a Bocce Ball court on the pine tree knoll. Orlando, from Puerto Rico, and I teamed up during a recent picnic outing against two of his friends that he brought along. We had them all the way, then Orlando blew his last toss of the P-ball, giving his friends an easy victory. I feel like a fix was in.

Oh. By the way...harvest and crush ended for us late last night. By three this morning, it started raining. Who says we are not blessed. Look soon for Michael and his crew at their annual Las Vegas debriefing sesson.
