WHOA! All the orders don't need to be sent in on the first day. We'll try to get to these as fast as we can. And to answer a number of your questions all at once: No. San Francisco is not considered one of the warmer areas. As you can see in the picture, we had a snow day.

Sophia Trujillo, Rancho La Jota, Howell Mountain

Actually, the snow was in the mountains surrounding the Valley. Michael must have gotten almost an inch at his house. This was plenty enough for him to declare a snow day and not come in to work.
For those of you in the Miami area, I'll be at the Miami Wine and Food Festival March 22 - 24. This event raises funds for the Miami United Way. I'll be in their golf tournament on March 22 out at Crandon Golf Club on Key Biscayne. Right now I don't have a team. So if any of you wish to join me; check out the event at www.miamiwinefestival.org.

The 2004 Vintage release Offering Letter went out this past Thursday and Friday to those of you living in the warmer areas. I came into the office today and already have orders waiting on the fax machine. It's cool here now (we're finally getting some rain), as it is across most of the nation. Therefore we'll be shipping ground as much as possible.

It's eighty degrees here, the river and creeks are dry, the mustards not as tall as in previous years, the trees that blossomed in January are losing their blossoms, I have to water and mow my lawn now, and I've had to take allergy medecine for the past two weeks. I know that few of you care about my personal problems. However, you will care when this global warming trend causes the vines to have early bud break and then we get a frost...and then...there won't be any wine.
On a lighter note: we do have wine for the 2004 vintage year and will be sending out the Offering Letters to those of you living in the warmer areas, this next week. This allows us to utilize the smaller shippers when they don't have much to do. They should make less mistakes and have less delays based on backups. We should also be able to ship mostly ground, providing you all with a sizeable savings.

2003 Vineyard Designated Reserves

For the 30th Annual St. Helena Soroptimist's Charity Crab Feed, we donated, for the first time ever, an etched and painted mag of our 2003 Vineyard Designated Reserves. The vineyards were our four sourced vineyards: Gary Morisoli, Herb Lamb, Beckstoffer To Kalon, and Beckstoffer Dr. Crane. As you all know, only the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane was released to the public for this vintage. Michael pulled out the best, from each of these vineyards, and only bottled twenty sets of mags and fifteen sets of 750s.

Stacey & Bob Bressler

And, as what happens at so many local charity events, Bob and Stacy to the lot with a record-breaking bid. They not only set the record for the highest bid for the Soroptimist's thirty year history, but they set the tone for the evening. So all the other bids were higher than usual, making the entire night a record setting night. Thanks also go to Rodney and Margaret Friedrich for bidding them up so high.
Our lot was coupled with a dinner for ten, at your house, with chef Gary Jenanyan. He used to be at Mondavi's. He's currently a chef for higher on yachts. So he emailed in his congrats from a yacht in Barbados.
The Soroptimist's designated charity for the evening was the soon to be constructed St. Helena Skatepark.
